Dr Michael Leihy

Hi I'm Michael Leihy 

I am a Geriatrician, and I am passionate about dementia. Dementia care begins decades before any symptoms manifest. Given as much as 33% of dementia may be preventable, optimization of brain health will be the major focus for all of my patients. I want to provide individualized evidence-based best practice for dementia prevention, and provide the best possible care and quality of life for people living with dementia and support for their social network. 

I was born and raised in Melbourne where I completed a PhD and my medical degree. I moved to the Gold Coast with my wife in 2011. We loved it so much here we settled and have since welcomed two beautiful young children.

The Healthy Brain and Memory Centre is the culmination of all of my experiences and my life's journey to date. I have strong memories of my grandmother volunteering in "Nursing Homes" when she was older than a lot of the residents. Unfortunately, she developed dementia in her later years and required care herself.

I would like to share my experience with you so that together we can all live our best life.
